Northern Constabulary is the police service for the Highland Region & Islands (Orkney, Shetland, Western Isles, Skye).
Although a police pipe band for the area had been mooted previously, it was only in late 2002 that the idea finally became a reality, with the Band making its public debut at the Isle of Skye Pipe Band Festival in June 2003.
The Band won the 2007 Scottish Championship at Grade 4B (Band and Drumming) and also placed Third in the 2007 European Championships at that Grade, and was promoted to Grade 4A for 2008.
Band membership comprises serving and retired officers, support staff, police family members, and members of the public.
The Band performs at a variety of public and private events around the Force Area, including many charity/community occasions, and also participates in local and Major competitions. A mini-band can also be provided for indoor functions, such as Ceilidhs, concerts or weddings.
New players (pipers and drummers) are always welcome at Practice , as are visitors to the area. |
