Towie & District Pipe Band began life in 1978 as the Towie Piping Group. The Piping Group aimed to provide instruction and promote interest in piping for all members in the local community. The enthusiasm of those initial pipers led to invites to play at local conerts etc.

Drumming Instructor Billy McCombie helped get the drum corps established in the early years and continues to provide tuition for our drummers today.

1980 witnessed the first Band engagement of the Towie & District Pipe Band at Tarland Show. Practices are held at Logie Coldstone School which is a central location for members which range from Deeside and Donside. The band have a beginners chanter class, intermediate class and Pipe Band practices. We entertain at a wide range of venues from Highland Games, Galas, Weddings, Parties and so on, all of which add up to a busy summer schedule!!
