Major Hugh Rose will give an illustrated talk about the origins, background and history behind some of the well-known, pipe tunes associated with The Black Watch. This lecture will be accompanied by Pipe Major Duthie who will play the tunes as Major Rose tells us of the story behind them. There are so many tunes that we know so well when we hear them but do not know their origin, this is a chance to learn a little about this less well known element of Regimental music and history
Major (Retd) Hugh Rose, like many members of his family, served with The Black Watch. During his time with the Regiment he served in Northern Ireland at the height of the troubles. Since leaving the army and taking up a second career he found time to follow his interest in military history.
