Branch Social Night - Saturday 4th October 2008

The North of Scotland Branch Social Night will be held on Saturday 4th October, at Ashdale Hall, Westhill. This year, entertainment will be provided by ceilidh band Broad Bay as well as a number of branch Pipe Bands. Tickets are £10.00 and are available now!

Aberdeenshire Primary School Piping Tuition Pilot

24th March 2008

Aberdeenshire Council's Youth Music Initiative is currently funding a pilot programme of chanter tuition.

Working in conjunction with Trad-Arr, the scheme will run up until July and hopes to raise the profile of piping and encourage P6 and 7 pupils to join their local Pipe Bands as they progress.

Drumming Workshop 2008

After the success of 2008, the North of Scotland Branch is again looking to hold a Drumming Workshop. To held in Aberdeen, the event will cover the weekend of 27th and 28th September 2008.

As in 2007, we will be led by Tom and Gordon Brown (snare) and Stevie McQuillen (B&T) of Boghall & Bathgate.

NoS Quartets Draw online

25th January 2008

The draw for the North of Scotland Piping Quartets contest is now online. The traditional opener to the local Pipe Banding season will be held at St Machar Academy, Aberdeen on Saturday 9th February, first band on at 9.00am.

National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland Concert

22nd January 2008

Sunday 2nd March 2008 sees the return of the NYPBoS to Aberdeen. Under the guidance of Paul Warren, they will again perform a range of sets from the traditional to the ground-breaking. Fresh from playing at the prestigious Celtic Connections festival, this is sure to be a concert to please the traditional and modern Pipe Band mindset.

They will be supported on this occasion by local ceilidh band Supercalafragalistic, and Bucksburn & District N/J Pipe Band - two great local examples of young talent.

The concert will be held in Aberdeen Arts Centre. Tickets are available from Aberdeen Box Office, and are priced at £12.50 with £10.00 concessions available.

National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland Concert

7th December 2007

Following on from their successful visit to Aberdeen in April 2007, the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland (NYPBoS), led by P/M Paul Warren of the National Piping Centre will return to the Aberdeen Arts Centre on Sunday 2nd March 2008.

NYPBoS brings together some of the best young Pipers and Drummers in the country, and always have a lively and varied programme. They have performed at some of the countries biggest venues, including opening Piping Live 2007 at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
